7/30/2009 8:28:28 PM I have a Streamlight stinger. The beam quality sucks balls. Make sure that you check it out before you buy. Streamlight does have some lights with stippled reflectors that put out a nice even light. I will never buy another light that has an incandescent bulb. Way too inefficient for survival work. I will also never buy another light that just has a super bright light without a dimmer setting to work with for long term use. Any light that gives me 200 lumens, but only a 1 hour battery life is useless to me. I almost never need 200 lumens. I need 10 to 20 lumens every damn day. Its nice to have that capability, but usually not required. Carrying a flashlight that can only fill one roll is so outdated and archaic that it seems silly for a survivalist. For quality, I prefer the Surefire. Not only for construction, but for the quality of the beam. The Streamlight is a good quality light. I carry Fenix lights for every day use and in my BOB and GHB. P3D on my first line belt and a P2D in my pocket. That is a months worth of light on the first set of batteries. No chance the Surefiresor Streamlight can compete. I have a SF, U2 that has multi modes, but it gives half the performance for twice the weight. My SF L1 lumax is a great light that has a mediocre 60 lumen output with a 10 lumen low. Still weighs more and is less efficient than my Fenix P3D. I have a P2D in my pocket right now. A LD10 and LD 20 in my pack as well as a LD01 on my key chain. I sold my SF M1 millennium combat light because it couldn’t hold a candle to my Fenix lights for 1/4 the price. You have to decide for yourself. Don’t buy from that store just because its local. Get the right light for you. jake-cutter

Aimpoint Pro
2/17/2012 3:35:59 AM By Eric: I’ve said it a bunch of times before, but will repeat that the PRO is about the best deal going on a duty ready red dot optic. If buying new, I don’t see enough of a benefit to spend the extra money on the M4. You should be able to find the PRO for about $400. Regardless of the battery type, I recommend swapping it out annually. Batteries are cheap. dso970
Aimpoint Comp M4
2/19/2012 9:34:21 PM Price reduced one last time before auction. Feel free to make trade offers. So the story is I am just a barrel away from completing my first AR “assembly”. Doing a 300 AAC blackout build with a 9″ barrel (let’s go zach from grim reaper tactical, get me my barrel already!) I have a Aimpoint H1 on an ADM QD mount all already to go. Seems like a perfect fit. But I just picked up a ML2 for cheap, for a 16″ rifle I also own, thinking the H1 was destined for the SBR when it was done. Well, I really like the bigger aimpoint. Even a bit more than the H1. I don’t mind the bigger optic and like larger tube. I’ve used the H1 on that rifle and even though its well built, light and accurate, I found that in certain shooting positions during some rifle matches the smaller tube is a hindrance. So now all of a sudden I’m craving an aimpoint Aimpoint Comp m4s. I like the looks, the battery, the 2moa dot and that its more solid than my ML2. However I’m concerned about the weight, as I’m toying with the idea that it could work, and look awesome, on my new SBR. On the other hand I feel I’m going to kill my nice, light weight build with this bigger, heavy optic. So what’s the concenus from people who have both or have tried a M4/M4s on a SBR? Yes, I know I could put the ML2 on the SBR, but that’s not what I’m asking. I wish a could go with the arf.com mentality and just buy everything but I cant afford it. So I am crazy to sell or trade my H1 for a Aimpoint Comp m4s and put it on a 9″ rifle? Thanks for your thoughts osha

It’s a Norinco. You’d have to compare prices in your area, but $295 sounds fairly reasonable.

Na you can use a BUIS with the RCO mount. I run it with my NSN/DOC and a Troy with no problems. Either Scope Mount will be good. I went with the RCO for cosmetic reasons, not to mention its a little cheaper.

My BUIS is mounted (since the photo was taken) at the back end of the railed handguard. To be replaced with a T-1 hopefully in the near future. The arrangement is sufficient.

General welding and fit and finish etc. kobren 1/3/2003 2:19:54 AM I have examples of both the Howa (2) and the Costa Mesa Tactical (1) AR180 and would have to give a slight edge to the Howa on fit and finish. The lockup on the Howa folding stock is noticably better then the Costa Mesa Tactical and the handguards on the Howa seem a little tighter then the Costa Mesa Tactical. Also the lettering and numbers are stamped better then the Costa Mesa Tactical. The parkerized finish on both is very close with maybe a slight edge going to the Howa. Another item is the white lines on the rear sight. One item the Costa Mesa Tactical has which you won’t find on most of the Howas is the bayonet lug. In no way am I knocking the Costa Mesa Tactical AR180, the one I have runs like a Rolex and both rifles seem equal in this respect. Very well could be. But with that thread, it seems that quite a few people got one from “a bad batch” also. As for the screw softness info, before my father told me about it, I wouldn’t have even known! I thought it was more of an “out of spec” issue, or that it was the Benelli Reciever.

I’m saying that is the way it is done in the military.
Match and specialized sniper/long range ammunition is far from underloaded.
There are specialized gas plug screws made fro the M14 Scope Mounts type rifle that allow a wide variety of ammunition to be utilized so there is no drawback to choosing one over an AR10 type platform for civilian use and again, a properly manufactured and heat treated modern M14 Scope Mounts type receiver is no less reliable than a modern manufactured AR10 two piece receiver system.

“This is not a done deal today,” said Council member Claudia Walters, who represents the district where the development would be built. “This is a kicking off of the public process.”
Councilman Tom Rawles voted against the motion for a reason he did not want to discuss publicly.
Rawles said he was concerned with an item on the incentive list. Mayor Keno Hawker abstained because his back yard abuts the mall site.
A pedestrian-oriented theater district on 30 acres would be the first phase of construction, which could begin in about 18 months.
That includes a 57,000 square-foot Cinemark theater, the second the national chain would locate in Arizona, and 103,000 square feet of retail space.
“This is going to be a place where you want to be,” said head architect Robert Saemisch of Saemisch DiBella Architects Inc., which will design the theater.
Future phases include the Bass Pro store on 25 acres, a 110-acre retail district where the Super Wal-Mart would locate, a 30-acre auto mall and a 45-acrecommerce park.
Bass Pro Shops, an outdoor sporting-goods giant that sells everything from rods and rifles to hunters’ underarm deodorant and camouflage infant booties, attracts millions of tourists annually.
The Missouri-based chain is opening its first Western store in Las Vegas on Nov. 11. Saemisch estimated that the 180,000- to 200,000-square-foot store in Mesa Tactical could attract 2 million tourists a year.
The developers’ proposal will be considered at several City Council sessions and planning and zoning meetings.
The city also plans to hold several public meetings on the development.

But Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman didn’t see it as a battle, instead hoping both developments could “complement each other” and become a regional retail force.
Who is Hugh Hallman? I though Tempe’s mayor was that Peter Puffing Homo, Neil Guliano!
(Hugh must be his Homeland Security Advisor.)

Guilani retired
Hallman got elected.
The use of taxpayer money to “lure” businesses is repugnant, no matter what business it is.
Will Glendale give a Blimpie’s owner a multi-million (hell—multithousand) dollar tax break like that? I mean…sales taxes in Glendale and jobs, too…?
Answer is no. No city will.
It’s bullshit and taxpayers should be outraged.

Tim,
I’m sure the city is thinking about their new tax source is trying to bring in buisiness. Maybe a $40 million dollar investment isn’t a bad thing if the city stands to make $10 million a year in income.

Why don’t they try creating a business environment where they don’t have to give taxpayer-funded bribes/kickbakcs/payoffs (which is all this is) in order to attract businesses.
I can’t imagine that residents wouldn’t like their portion of the $40 million instead of it going to a government-funded giveaway.

Tell me about it. I spent enough of my own money trying to get it stopped.

I’m with TimW on this one. I’m repulsed by the basic principle of using taxation as a means to coerce or bribe individuals to do or not do something.

I really did not expect this on a high dollar rugged optic. I even ran to Wallyworld to try to find a battery in case the original had an issue. Doesn’t look like this battery will be easy to find. Needless to say, I’m bummed. Only 3 posts and 0 feedback, I call BS No, really you probably just didn’t turn it up past the first few night vision settings, your battery is installed wrong or needs replacing. RyanH 3/2/2012 9:49:35 AM I thought I had the same thing with an Aimpoint Scope ML3 a few years ago. After dicking around with the battery and turning the brightness up, I got it to work. It hasn’t been turned off since. packinkimber45
